Just because someone chooses to speak- well in this case, type, intelligently and use their vocabulary to its fullest extent does not, in anyway mean that they are using a thesaurus for every word. Instead of ridiculing someone for extending their vocabulary, maybe you should be the one opening a thesaurus or dictionary.com to help your own self. Crying because someone is using words too large for your comprehension just makes you look ignorant. Yes, I understand that it is quite normal for people to use grandiloquent wording that is simply pompous and has no meaning but that does not mean that applies to anyone who uses large words. Read an actual book instead of fanfiction written by a teenager, you might actually expand your vocabulary.
OOC: quite frankly, pompous words and a refined way of speaking is very rare these days. when you have a normal discussion with someone you won’t end up showing off your eloquency and enriched vocabulary unless you are all proud and smug of your proficient speaking. only when you describe stuff in a post can you use bombastic vocabulary yet it would be good to always keep in mind the person you roleplay with. what if they don’t know the word you have picked? if someone though still feels like using their luscious descriptions when posting then so be it. and you are right, there is no need to make fun of them. i don’t know why people do that.
Not to mention that there’s plenty of people who don’t have English as their first language. Plus for crying out loud, it’s role playing and something people do for fun and want to enjoy, at least i know i do. English is not my first language and i’ve come across people who constantly used big words in everything they’ve said and honestly, i don’t want to spending an hour looking up words i don’t understand just to figure out what the person i’m role playing with is trying to say and then come up with a reply that makes me feel fucking stupid because i’m not capable of using pompous words. Like i said, i’m role playing for fun and not as a preparation for a master degree in English.
